It’s an exciting season for Summit Christian Academy athletics. Our Lady Eagles volleyball team is making its second consecutive playoff appearance, our football program continues to grow, and our cross country runners are heading to state. Across our fall teams, we’re seeing the results of hard work, perseverance, and a shared commitment to excellence.
Behind that progress are diligent coaches who invest in our students every day. Through purposeful practices, individual instruction, and consistent encouragement, they help athletes develop the skills and confidence to compete while building character that extends beyond their sport.
Varsity Volleyball Coach, Melissa Hinnant, exemplifies that investment. An All-State defensive player who set school records in Minneapolis, Coach Melissa brings experience coaching at both the club and recreational levels. Now in her third year at Summit, she is helping build a thriving volleyball program while mentoring the next generation of athletes.
Throughout our fall programs, that same dedication is helping students grow as teammates, leaders, and competitors. Our coaches bring high expectations and a personal commitment to helping students honor Christ through their effort, attitude, and sportsmanship.
As we celebrate our fall athletes, we’re carrying that momentum into winter sports with an exciting basketball coaching lineup.
Our staff brings together championship experience, professional athletic backgrounds, and a passion for developing young players. Coach Amber Peconga returns after leading our elementary girls to a championship last year, while former professional athlete Coach Brad Smith brings valuable playing experience to our intermediate girls program. Alongside them, our basketball coaches are preparing students to build strong fundamentals and compete with confidence.
We’re also excited to introduce our Lady Eagles Varsity Soccer team this season! The girls will be led by College Guidance Counselor Lizzie Ten Brooke, who brings her experience as a collegiate soccer player to the program.
Adding to that opportunity, Summit is bringing in former NCAA Division I coach Byron Smith to share his collegiate coaching expertise with our student-athletes. His involvement will give players an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the game and learn about the preparation, discipline, and teamwork required at the next level.
From our youngest players learning the fundamentals to high school athletes sharpening their game, we’re excited about the opportunities ahead. With dedicated students, experienced coaches, and a community ready to cheer them on, our Eagles have much to look forward to this winter.
Let’s go, Eagles!
