Athletic Director
Summit Christian Academy is an independent, non-denominational, college preparatory school dedicated to the highest academic standards taught through a biblical worldview. This position is currently open for the 2023-2024 academic school year.
Duties:
At Summit Christian Academy, our Athletic Director serves as a member of our campus leadership and
administration team directly reporting to the Head of School. This position casts a vision for the athletic
department that aligns with the mission of the school and integrates with all components of school life. The
Athletic Director is responsible for providing servant leadership, strategic planning, management, community
engagement with a commitment to growth of the athletic program. The following duties are included but not
limited to:
- Responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all students in the athletic program
- Represent SCA as a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS), the Austin
- Christian Athletic Association (ACAA) and the South Texas Football Conference (STFC), and have a strong
understanding of league rules and policies
- Schedule athletic contests and secure game officials
- Attract, hire and supervise qualified coaching staff for all athletic programs, ensuring that they are
performing their duties at the highest level of professionalism
- Develop and provide appropriate training guidelines and materials for coaching staff, ensuring that
coaches are properly trained in all organizational and philosophical aspects of the athletic program
- Plan, coordinate and oversee all school athletic activities including but not limited to team sports, summer
athletic camps and awards ceremonies
- Coordinate and disseminate information regarding athletic practices, contests and activities to school
personnel, students and parents as needed
- Secure appropriate forms and payments from athletic participants
- Purchase and maintain inventory of all athletic equipment
- Oversee the distribution, collection, repair and storage of all athletic uniforms and equipment
- Work with the facilities manager to ensure that school grounds meet athletic needs and the proper
maintenance and security of all athletic equipment and athletic facilities/fields
- Maintain records of team and individual athletic accomplishments for marketing, promotional and
historical purposes
- Prepare, submit and administer a budget each year to fund the athletic programs of the school
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation in all sports
- Oversee and work with SCA Athletic Booster Club to help facilitate game day operations, planning for
growth and meet the needs of each athletic program
- Work responsibilities often extend into after-school hours and/or on weekends
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum two years of experience as an athletic director preferred
- Demonstrates a strong Christian testimony
- Creates a positive learning environment and works cooperatively with team members
- Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and the general public

Personal Days:
Full time, permanent teachers receive one day personal time off for every completed month of service during the contract year, for a maximum of 10 days.

High School Science

Education:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university; Master’s preferred
- Minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Valid Texas Teaching License
- ACSI certification required within the first year of employment
Qualifications:
- High School Teacher – Demonstrates knowledge of the academic standards in the courses of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and AP Biology.
- Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the designed curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation
- Demonstrates a strong Christian testimony
- Creates a positive learning environment reflective of the love of Christ
- Effectively manages a classroom and students
- Commits to forming personal relationships with students and families
- Works cooperatively with team members
- Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public
- Follows established school policies, procedures and guidelines in a spirit of positive cooperation
- Integrates Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum
- Equipped to teach in an innovative, inquiry-based manner where students are challenged to think critically
