A Grand Day at Summit! Celebrating Grandparents Day 2026

Summit Christian Academy > Academics > Elementary > A Grand Day at Summit! Celebrating Grandparents Day 2026

What a wonderful morning celebrating some of the most special people in our students’ lives! Summit Christian Academy welcomed grandparents from near and far, with some traveling all the way from San Jose, California, to Rhode Island, to spend this special day with their grandchildren.

The morning began with our Sounds of Music performance, featuring students from pre-k through 5th grade. Each grade took the stage in adorable costumes to perform songs from the beloved musical The Sound of Music. We loved seeing their personalities shine as they sang for their grandparents!

A special highlight was the performance by our very own theatre teacher, Jamie Coblentz, and high school math teacher, Doug Landers, who brought the musical’s two leading characters to life. What a treat for our Summit families!

Following the performance, grandparents enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren around campus. From playing games on the lawn to touring classrooms and visiting the Book Fair, it was a morning filled with laughter, hugs, and special memories. Thank you to all the grandparents who supported SCA through their Book Fair purchases!

We also want to recognize our Impact Student Council, whose members served throughout campus by greeting grandparents, providing directions, and helping ensure everyone felt welcome. A heartfelt thank you also goes to our Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) for their time, dedication, and support in making this event such a success.

And of course, a special thank you to our music teacher, Mr. Zambrano, for orchestrating such a wonderful performance! His hard work, creativity, and dedication helped bring The Sound of Music to life through our students. What a joy it was to see their hard work shine on stage!

To all our Summit grandparents, thank you for being part of our school family! We hope you left feeling as loved and cherished as you truly are. Your presence, encouragement, and investment in the lives of our students mean more than you know.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you again next year!
