Summit Christian Academy is excited to be a participating school in the first year of the Texas Educational Freedom Account (TEFA) program. Administered by the Texas Comptroller’s Office, this new initiative allows eligible families to receive state funding to use toward approved educational expenses, including private school tuition.
The Texas Comptroller released additional details about the TEFA program, along with a database of participating schools across the state. According to a report from the Austin American-Statesman, parents in the Austin area will be able to choose from approximately 70 private schools that will accept Texas’ new school vouchers this fall. While many participating schools serve only pre-kindergarten or elementary grades, fewer options are available for families with older students. Only 20 participating schools in the region offer a full high school education. Summit Christian Academy is proud to be among the schools providing a comprehensive Pre-K through 12th grade education rooted in a biblical worldview.
The application window for families to apply for TEFA funding is February 4 through March 17, with families being notified of awards beginning April 6. We strongly encourage all Summit Christian Academy families to apply. Even for families who may not ultimately receive funding this year, participation helps demonstrate demand for Christian education and could support increased funding opportunities for future years. The application process is expected to be simple and easy.
We encourage families to stay informed by following updates from the Texas Comptroller’s Office, as well as information from Summit Christian Academy regarding TEFA and how it applies to our school community.
We are excited for this opportunity to see more families with access to Christian education. At Summit Christian Academy, we partner with families to empower students to impact the world for Jesus Christ, and the TEFA program will help make our mission a reality for more families. We are eager to see how God will use this program to further His work through Christian education.
