Texas Educational Freedom Accounts and SCA
At Summit Christian Academy, our mission is to partner with families to empower students to impact the world for Jesus Christ. As we anticipate the opening of the Texas Educational Freedom Accounts (TEFA), we remain steadfast in our commitment to our current families and the strong, authentic community that defines SCA.
Points of Contact
Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, families at Summit Christian Academy will have access to a new state-funded program that can significantly reduce the cost of private education.
Under Senate Bill 2, eligible families will be able to receive an estimated $10,800 per student per year through the newly named Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFAs).
This program, overseen by the Texas Comptroller’s Office and administered by Odyssey, provides parents with direct access to funds that can be used for approved educational expenses such as tuition, textbooks, tutoring, and testing.
Summit Christian Academy meets all state requirements to be an approved TEFA institution. That means SCA families will be eligible to apply and use these funds here, without any change to our programs, curriculum, or accreditation.
If program demand exceeds available funds, priority will be given to:
Students with disabilities
Lower-income families (up to 500% of the federal poverty level)
Siblings of current participants
Senate Bill 2 and the new Texas Education Freedom Accounts represent a major step forward in making high-quality Christian education more affordable and accessible.
Whether you’re already part of the SCA community or considering enrollment, this program could reduce your out-of-pocket tuition by thousands of dollars, while keeping your child in a Christ-centered, academically excellent environment.
We encourage you to stay up to date on the latest TEFA news on the Texas Comptroller’s website.
