Summit Christian Academy > Academics > Elementary > Competing with Excellence: 2025 Fall Sports Recap

As the 2025 fall sports season wraps up, we want to celebrate an incredible semester of athletics at Summit Christian Academy! Our Cross Country, Volleyball, and Football teams represented SCA with excellence and Christ-like character, both on and off the field.

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our coaches who poured countless hours into developing our students not just as athletes, but as young men and women growing in who God created them to be.

Cross Country
Under the leadership of Coaches Brian and Erika Henson, our Cross Country team had a competitive season across nine meets. A highlight was their trip to Seaside, Oregon for the Thee Courses Challenge, where 6th grader Ava Bassil and 7th grader Bailey Murrell brought home medals. Brailyn Murrell improved her time from last year’s race by nearly three minutes! Every runner showed grit and perseverance, finishing the season strong at the TAPPS State Meet in Waco, where Lisa Coburn placed 21st and Witten Murrell placed 23rd in their respective divisions.

Volleyball
From 5th Grade to Varsity, the Summit Volleyball program had an outstanding season!

  • 5th Grade: (Coaches Scott Aston and Monique Keeley, Assistant Coach Rachel Murray) finished an exciting season 3-3, and fought hard every single game.
  • 6th Grade: (Coaches Scott Aston and Monique Keeley, Assistant Coach Rachel Murray) went 9-0, never losing a set, and became back-to-back ACAA Tournament Champions.
  • Intermediate: (Coach Gisele Rocha): finished 9-2 in the regular season and earned a 3rd place trophy at the ACAA Tournament.
  • Varsity: (Head Coach Melissa Hinnant, Assistant Coach Shonna Jones) currently 26-4 and still competing! The Lady Eagles finished as district runners-up after an intense 5-set reverse sweep over Waldorf, and will host Bracken on Saturday, November 1st at 2:00pm for Round 1 of the State Playoffs.

Football
Our football teams showed a lot of heart this fall.

  • Elementary Flag Football: (Head Coach Josh Faulks, Assistant Coaches Joel Faulks and Andre Wuescher) finished strong with a big upset win in the first round of the ACAA Tournament!
  • Intermediate Football: (Head Coach Scott Horne, Assistant Coach Ramon van Meer) finished 3-4 and advanced to the playoffs, showing grit against much larger opponents.

We’re so proud of every athlete who represented Summit well this season. As we look ahead to basketball and spring sports, we celebrate not just the wins on the court, but the character development within Summit Athletics.
