Summit Christian Academy > High School > Back-to-School IMPACT Retreats

The Impact Program at SCA has been implemented as a tool to help students build a solid foundation of faith and knowledge from Pre-K through graduation from high school. Students have three components of partnership between the Impact program, Bible classes, weekly chapel, and discipleship groups that serve to prepare them to be disciples of Jesus. While classes and chapel teach the character of God and Biblical principles, Impact puts those lessons into action. Impact creates opportunities to understand how foundational skills, such as prayer and service, can be utilized as powerful tools of Christianity.

In Elementary, Impact class is a place for students to learn about different cultures and countries, and how Christianity is viewed throughout the world. Secondary students take those lessons to another level, applying them to community-based missions in Middle School, and national and international missions in High School.

The Back-To-School retreat for Middle and High school students is at Camp Tejas in Giddings, Texas. High School students spend two days worshipping, learning from Christian leaders, and serving in different areas of the camp. The two days are filled with fun, laughter, singing and prayer. Middle School students spend a full day at the camp, enjoying the same experiences as the High School students.

Regardless of the length of time the students spend at the camp, there is always evidence of God moving in their hearts and their minds. Head of School Scott Mac Leod has said that this year’s Back-to-School Retreat was the most amazing one he has attended. The ability of the camp to set the conditions that facilitate relationships between our students and the Lord is incredible to see. These students experienced a worship led by Justin Joiner, and the presence of the Holy Spirit was clearly felt.

The Impact Program is vital in making Summit the authentic, God-loving learning environment that so many families seek in this age of confusion and dysfunction. We are so appreciative of Mrs. G and all the teachers and staff that attend the retreat. Their days of service are true examples of servant leadership.
