The SCA senior class recently returned from their Impact Trip to Bucharest, Romania, where they spent the week serving and ministering to Roma (Gypsy) communities alongside local missionaries.
Throughout the week, students shared the message of Christ in a variety of settings, from a small third-grade classroom to large gatherings of children in village camps. The team taught the story of David and Goliath and spoke about faith in Jesus using songs, storytelling and crafts.
In one outreach, the seniors worked with more than 100 children in a Roma village, where they made friendship bracelets using colors that represented Romania, Texas, and God’s love. In another village church, students led worship songs, shared Scripture, and helped children create crafts.
The experiences were eye-opening for our senior students, as they witnessed communities where many children do not attend school and have limited resources. Each ministry opportunity required the team to adapt to different environments and cultural contexts, which stretched them to grow in compassion and service.
Students also learned more about Romanian culture and history, visiting the Mausoleum Mateias monument honoring soldiers from World War I and exploring the historic town of Câmpulung.
The team concluded the week by leaving behind supplies, clothing, and financial support for the missionaries they served with, helping meet immediate needs in the ministry.
Through every moment of the trip, the seniors demonstrated servant hearts and a willingness to share Christ’s love with others. Experiences like these at Summit Christian Academy will continue to shape them after their return home.
