Excitement is building around Summit Christian Academy athletics after a successful 2025 season that saw outstanding accomplishments across multiple sports. The Eagles are preparing for another competitive year, as our student-athletes have spent the summer training for a successful 2026 season.

Varsity Football Head Coach Brett Millican, a former collegiate and NFL player, has dedicated countless hours during the offseason helping the Eagles build strength, confidence, and discipline.

“Our players have been working hard during summer workouts, developing strength and agility,” Millican said. “We’re excited to welcome three players who will be playing football for the first time and see what they bring to the team.”

With three seniors leading the Eagles this fall, the team has its sights set on making a deep postseason run. The foundation laid throughout the summer has positioned the Eagles to compete with confidence as they begin the new season.

After an impressive 2025 campaign that ended with the Eagles as District Runner-Up and Bi-District Champions, Head Coach Melissa Hinnant returns with high expectations for another memorable season.

Led by a talented junior class, the Lady Eagles have embraced the challenge of preparing for tougher competition.

“The girls have been training hard preparing for a really big, exciting year,” Hinnant said. This season also marks a significant milestone for the volleyball program.

“For the first time in Summit Christian Academy history, we’ll have both a JV team and a Varsity team,” she shared. “We’ve also scheduled several larger schools with challenging programs that will push our girls to continue growing.”

Coaches Brian and Erika Henson return for their seventh season leading the Eagles Cross Country program and are looking forward to one of the strongest teams in recent years.

“We’re excited to have all of our runners back from last season, along with several new additions,” Brian Henson said. One of the biggest highlights this year is the return of a full varsity boys team. “We’re especially excited to have a full varsity boys team for the first time since 2019.”

The team also has an exciting travel opportunity ahead as they’ll compete at the prestigious Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, this October. Summer training began June 1, and the Eagles are already preparing for their first meet on August 22.

While wins and championships are always exciting, Summit Christian Academy Athletics exists to develop young men and women who honor Christ both in competition and in everyday life.

The Athletic Department and school leadership are looking forward to another season of student-athletes using their God-given talents to compete with excellence and represent Summit Christian Academy on and off the field, court, and course.
