At Summit Christian Academy, we understand that choosing a private Christian education is a significant investment for families. Such an investment should yield lasting value both now and in the future. The results of this spring’s NWEA MAP Growth assessments from PreK through 5th grade clearly show that SCA students are not only thriving academically, but also being equipped for long-term success in higher education and beyond.
Beginning in PreK, our students are given tools to build a strong academic foundation. This spring, PreK students participated in the Screening Checklist for Early Numeracy and Early Literacy. This assessment helps families better understand their child’s readiness for Kindergarten and highlights the strengths and areas for growth necessary for early success. It’s the first step in a carefully designed academic journey that prepares students for a lifetime of learning and leadership.
Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade took the NWEA MAP Growth assessments in reading and math, with results significantly exceeding national averages. The percentile score shows how our students are doing compared to others. For example, if a student is in the 66th percentile, it means they performed better than 66 out of 100 students. In our Kindergarten class, students scored in the 66th percentile for math and the 68th percentile for reading. This means our Kindergarteners performed better than about two-thirds of their peers in these subjects. First graders scored in the 72nd percentile for math and 73rd for reading. These results affirm that even in the earliest grades, Summit students are outperforming their peers nationally; evidence that the investment in Christian education is already producing measurable returns.
From 2nd through 5th grade, students took the MAP Growth assessments in reading, math, and language usage. Again, results consistently surpassed national benchmarks. For example, 2nd graders scored in the 77th percentile for reading and 73rd for language usage. In 5th grade, students reached the 78th percentile in language usage, with strong performance in math and reading as well. These scores reflect not only academic excellence, but also the consistent value of SCA’s rigorous and supportive educational environment.
However, the true value of an SCA education extends far beyond standardized test scores. Our students are nurtured in a Christ-centered community where faith and learning are inseparably linked. We believe, as Colossians 3:23 teaches, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” This biblical foundation shapes the way students approach learning with purpose, integrity, and a desire to glorify God.
That foundation carries through all the way to graduation. This year, our seniors were accepted to 100% of the colleges to which they applied: a powerful testament to the strength of our college-preparatory program. Even more impressively, these students applied to over 100 different colleges, showcasing both ambition and the confidence to pursue diverse opportunities nationwide. Our college counseling program, personalized instruction, and emphasis on academic and spiritual maturity prepare students not just to be accepted, but to succeed and thrive in the next stage of their academic journey.
When parents invest in Summit Christian Academy, they are investing in more than just strong academics. They are investing in a future marked by opportunity, purpose, and impact. The performance of our elementary students today and the achievements of our graduates this year tell a clear story: Summit Christian Academy delivers lasting value.
