Summit Theatre Company Shines in Sold Out Production of The Little Mermaid

Summit Christian Academy > Fine Arts > Summit Theatre Company Shines in Sold Out Production of The Little Mermaid

Last week, the Summit Theatre Company put on an unforgettable performance of The Little Mermaid under the direction of Theatre Arts Director Jamie Coblentz (“Ms. Cobie”). With four sold-out shows and more than 800 tickets sold, the SCA community showed up in a big way by filling the room with support for student performers.

Students showcased their talent and many hours of dedication poured into rehearsals. At the center of it all is Ms. Cobie, whose passion for theatre and commitment to her students continues to set the Summit Theatre program apart.

One theatre parent shared:
[Ms. Coblentz] invests her talent, skills, and experience into these kids and they truly grow into better actors and performers because of it. I’ve watched Ms. Cobie bring out the best in students who may otherwise be struggling to find their place. She sees their potential and helps them grow into it, and this helps students build confidence. She’s not afraid to put someone in a role that will grow them, and that feels different than other places where only the most talented get all the roles.

The fall play and spring musical are always a testament to the strength of the Summit community. Parent volunteers played a vital role in bringing the show to life by coordinating hair and makeup, managing ticket sales, running concessions, directing tech production, and much more. Their behind-the-scenes efforts always create a memorable experience for both students and audiences.

Opportunities like this are part of what makes Summit Christian Academy unique. In a smaller environment, students are able to participate in a wide range of activities, where they often discover talents they may not have had the chance to explore at a bigger school.

With exceptional teachers, coaches, and directors who are masters of their craft, Summit faculty goes beyond skill-building to invest deeply in each student. The result is students who step into any environment with confidence in their God given ability.
