Summit Christian Academy > Academics > Elementary > Building Strong Readers: Summit Introduces UFLI Foundations

Summit Christian Academy is committed to equipping every student with the tools they need to excel academically. This year, Ms. Varnier and the elementary team are  excited to introduce UFLI Foundations to our kindergarten through second grade classes. UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) is a nationally recognized phonics, reading, and writing program.

UFLI provides a structured approach to teaching foundational literacy skills. Each Monday through Thursday, our K-2 classrooms dedicate morning time to the program, while Fridays are used for review. Through engaging lessons and practice, students build essential phonics skills that will build the foundation for continued learning.

Summit K-2 teachers completed specialized UFLI training over the summer to prepare for the program. This investment ensures consistency and excellence as the program is launched.

UFLI is more than a curriculum, it’s a cornerstone of Summit’s commitment to academic excellence. By laying a strong foundation in the early grades, we are preparing students not only to succeed in school but also to thrive in life as confident readers and communicators.

We can’t wait to see the growth in our students as UFLI becomes part of their daily learning. Learn more about UFLI Foundations at ufli.education.ufl.edu.
