“My grandmother taught school for 50 years. She graduated with her teaching certificate at 74 years of age from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. It took her 50 years to get her teaching certificate. She could only take one or two courses a year due to life circumstances. At the time, she was allowed to actually teach without a certificate. I think that God used her in my life to help teach me perseverance.
He created within me a deep LOVE for children and watching them learn. I have always viewed teaching as my life mission. My daughter has now become a teacher (she just started her 8th year). I think that God began His work in my Grandmother, who passed it on to me and I have passed it on to my daughter. He has allowed us to touch the hearts and lives of many children over the years. My prayer is that we have been able to make a difference in all the students and their families and that we have been a light for Him as we have walked the path that He granted us.”
