Junior and Senior Seminar classes at Summit are intentional in shaping students to become leaders who are ready not only for college and career, but for lifelong service and influence in the world.
Junior Seminar Highlights
Career Presentations with Industry Professionals
This year, we invited industry professionals to guest judge our Juniors’ career presentations for an added level of feedback and investment from members of our SCA community. Juniors presented on a wide range of fields including Neuroscience, Elementary Education, Architecture, and Animation bringing out their passions and communication skills. This project gave students an opportunity to explore their unique gifts and interests which they might use after graduation.
Mock College Fair
The juniors have begun their college research unit, becoming “college admissions officers” for an upcoming mock college fair experience for our 8th grade students. 8th graders gain early exposure to colleges, while Juniors dive deep into one college, interviewing real admissions representatives and learning about their school and admissions process.
Senior Seminar Highlights
Distinguished Diplomas
All SCA students have the opportunity to earn the Distinguished Diploma of Achievement, which recognizes graduates who pursue advanced academics and hands-on experience via internship. Requirements include:
The summer internship is often one of the most transformative components. Many students use this experience to explore and discern career fields before investing in college courses, while also gaining valuable connections in professional environments.
Five-Year Plan Presentations
Every senior completes a personal Five-Year plan and presents it to their peers and administration. Students are challenged to outline a realistic financial budget, their post-high school training or education, and life “non-negotiables” rooted in biblical values.
Our Head of School, Colonel Mac Leod, often reminds students that the plan isn’t the most important thing, but the process of planning is crucial. We want our students to be comfortable with the process of planning for their futures, taking an active role in the trajectory of their lives under God’s plan.
These seminars are part of what makes SCA distinct, and we are proud of our students for rising to the challenge with excellence.
