On Wednesday the upper school had two very special guests share in chapel. Laura Koke and her husband Rob are founding pastors of Shoreline Christian Center in Austin. Danielle Koke Germain is their youngest daughter. All three of the Koke children attended Summit at one time. Their middle child, Caleb, played on the state ranked basketball team in 2008-2009 and was very involved at the school as well as their church. He was involved in a car accident in the summer of 2009 which took his life here on earth. Danielle shared about losing her brother, when she was only 14, and that she turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain she felt from that, and from other experiences in life. Her story, while heartbreaking, is one of hope and recovery. It truly demonstrates God’s goodness and mercy.
She and her father have written a book called “Prodigal Daughter” which is on bookshelves in stores and available through Amazon. If you would like to see one of their television interviews, you can follow the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-wYqWimlDY.
We are so thankful they were able to join us today and remind us that “He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet no man can fathom the work which God has done from the beginning to the end. “ Eccelesiastes 3:11 NIV
