Summit Christian Academy > Alumni > Coach Jen – TAPPS Female Coach of the Year!

Jen is entering her 4th year at Summit Christian Academy, her 3rd year at the helm as the varsity head coach. Taking over the team after a no win season, the Eagles won 3 matches in 2017, 17 matches in 2018, and had rankings in the TAPPS 1A division as high as 7. The Eagles had All District First Team honors with Sarah Soubra, 2nd Team Honors with Gracie Macleod, Mary Johnson, and Avery Zuniga, and Honorable Mention Honors with Kylie Patterson, Madison Miller, and Hailee Maxfield. In addition to these, Jen was named TAPPS Coach of the Year.

Previous to Summit, Jen was the Associate Head Coach at St. Stephens Episcopal School from 2008-2011/2013-2016. While there she helped the Spartans win 3 out of their 4 SPC titles.

In 2012, her coaching career took her to North Carolina where she was an assistant coach at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. While there she was a part of school history when the NC State Wolfpack made the NCAA tournament for the first time in 37 years. Coincidentally enough, that brought her team to Austin, TX to play Texas A&M at Gregory Gymnasium.

Prior to coaching, Jen played 4 years for the University of Texas as an Outside Hitter. During her time on the Forty Acres, she won a Big Twelve Championship, made appearances in the Sweet 16 and the Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament. She graduated in 2008 earning her degree in Kinesiology, and a minor in Psychology Education.

Before UT, Jen was a 4-year letter winner for Gilbert High School where she won a 5A State Championship, was named 5A Player of the Year, and Arizona State Gatorade Player of the year.
