Summit Christian Academy Theater Arts

The Theater Arts Department at Summit Christian Academy is dedicated to enriching students by introducing them to the wonderful world of theater. Theater Arts is an elective for students in 7th-12th grades.

Middle School Theater Arts I:

Theater Arts I is a year long elective for 7th grade students who have the desire to learn theater technique and gain basic acting skills. Concentration, imagination, character development, stage direction, stage combat, and improvisation are just a few of the units covered throughout the year. This is a fun, interactive class, filled with ample opportunities to perform for the class.

Middle School Theater Arts II:

Theater Arts II is a year long elective for 8th grade students. This class is designed to follow Theater Arts I. However, all new students are welcome! All subjects learned in Theater Arts I will be reviewed and expounded on during the first quarter. The second quarter will be dedicated to preparing a group of scenes for a chapel performance. The second semester will include a musical theater unit, understanding the history of theater, perfecting audition monologues and student directed one-acts for the end of the year parent showcase (along with several other performance opportunities.) Students in this are encouraged to audition to be in the chorus for the HS spring musical.

High School Theater:

High school Theater Arts is a year long elective. This class is for serious drama students who desire to gain more experience and knowledge through performing. All students in this class will be cast in the fall and spring shows, regardless of experience or ability. Rehearsals for these shows will be during class and one Saturday a month. (Some theater experience optimal.) Rehearsals mandatory.
