The Art program at Summit Christian Academy seeks to provide an atmosphere in which creativity can flourish. Our program introduces students in all grades to the skills, techniques, and methods of creating art through a wide assortment of media—including painting, drawings in pastels and graphite, charcoal, collage, sculpture, printmaking, and ceramics. Art History serves as a backdrop to every unit, with greater emphasis occurring in the upper grades. Students should see their talents as gifts from God to be used for His glory, not just for entertainment or self-gratification. We encourage students to use art as a response of praise to God and in service to those around them. In so doing, art becomes a visual language by which one can give expression to experience, beliefs, purposes, and emotions.
