Impact Education
“From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’” (Acts 17:26-28a)
Summit’s Impact Education program is a vital part of its educational philosophy and lies at the core of Summit’s mission. Impact Education is realized primarily through training in missions that runs throughout the school from the youngest pre-schooler to the most mature Senior. In its missions training, Summit strives to:
• Teach by example that missions ("reaching out") is a lifestyle God desires for all of us
• Encourage students to "reach out” to others by serving in their homes and communities; among the hurting, the lonely, and the needy; by studying God's Word; and following Christ's example
• Teach students to pray for the people they serve and to learn through prayer what is on God's heart
• Introduce students to the exciting ways God's people are "reaching out" in their communities and around the world
• Create an environment where the students, in gratitude for what Christ has done for them, desire to see others come to know Christ as their Savior
• Help students learn about other countries, cultures, and environments in which missionaries serve
• Partner with other missions ministries on an ongoing basis – building relationships with them and providing opportunities for students to interact with missionaries on and away from their mission fields
• Incorporate Summit staff members and parents into mission outreaches
• Present missions as a career, providing opportunities for students to recognize and answer the call to career missions.
